PRINCETON, WV (WOAY) – Voters have been requesting more absentee ballots in recent weeks.
In Mercer County, more than 1,000 absentee ballots are planned to be distributed in the next week alone, and many more are expected to follow. And more than 400 of those ballots were requested online.
Mercer County Deputy Clerk Marie Hill says that absentee ballots are a great way for people to exercise their right to vote while also staying safe.
“It’s convenient for the people that cannot get out and about. And a lot of them don’t want to get out due to the COVID. And this gives them a chance that makes sure that they get to vote.”
Mercer County residents have until October 28 to register for an absentee ballot.
