FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – It’s called the ‘Coolest Small Town’ and when you Visit Fayetteville you are close to amazing outdoor adventure.
Kicking off their 4th of July festivities: the Heritage Festival, downtown parade, live music and fireworks at dusk on Saturday.
“Today, tomorrow and Saturday are all packed full of events throughout the town, both right in front of the courthouse and in the town park,” said visitor center associate Christopher Lechalk.
He says it’s the sense of community that draws people to town on July 4th and beyond.
“Even a lot of outsiders feel that,” Lechalk said. “They feel that sense of community when they come here. And it’s a strong sense of community that people love.”
According to the visitor center associate, Fayetteville has grown in popularity since the redesignation of the new River Gorge National Park and Preserve, often called tourism gold.
“A lot of the shops and a lot of the different companies around here do a really good job of making everybody feel welcome,” he said.
Whether you’re visiting from near or far, many feel right at home in Fayetteville. And having that sense of comfort is everything.
“It’s hard to beat the small-town community. Things are growing, but we still have that small-town feeling,” said Lechalk.
