Virtual public involvement meeting and comment opportunity available for US Route 460/College Ave. Study in Bluefield

BLUEFIELD, VA (WOAY) —In an effort to share updates on the study and gain additional public input on projects being considered for further analysis, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a virtual public meeting beginning today (May 22) on VirginiaDOT.org.

The virtual public involvement opportunity will be available May 22 through June 12 at the following link: http://www.virginiadot.org/Route460CollegeAve.

A public information meeting held in October provided VDOT and the Town of Bluefield feedback about existing safety, access and traffic flow issues along US Route 460 and College Avenue between Route 720 and Leatherwood Lane.

VDOT’s planning team has used that feedback to develop proposed projects to enhance safety, accessibility and travel on US Route 460 and College Avenue. The virtual public meeting is being held to provide an update on the proposed transportation improvement projects and solicit input.

Citizens can go online to http://www.virginiadot.org/Route460CollegeAve to watch a presentation regarding the study. Additionally, there is a link to a survey (https://route460andcollegeave.metroquest.com) on the web page that provides citizens the opportunity to give feedback after viewing the presentation. The survey will remain open through June 12, 2020.

Written and verbal comments are also being accepted through June 12, 2020. Mail comments to Mr. Blake Ailor, Bristol District Planner, 870 Bonham Road, Bristol, Virginia 24201 by June 12, 2020.
