Mercer County, WV (WOAY) – On April 13th, around 1:28 p.m., Deputy M.J. Mikles pulled over Ricky Dalton Hess of Virginia during a speeding incident.
Deputy Mikles was conducting traffic control in the Big Laurel Highway area in the eastbound lanes when he spied a black sedan speeding in the westbound lanes.
Milkes followed, attempting to conduct a traffic stop as the vehicle traveled down Courthouse Road. When his emergency lights flashed on, the suspect, Ricky Dalton Hess, attempted to evade by traveling on Juno Court before fleeing on foot.
The West Virginia State Police K9 units joined the Mercer County Sheriff’s department to track Hess down, while State Police also contacted the Bluestone Volunteer Fire Department to use their department drone to aid in the search.
Using the drone, they found Hess hiding in a wooded area between Mountain View Drive and Appletree Lane. Hess has been taken into custody and is currently in Southern Regional Jail waiting for an arraignment.
