UPDATE: Monroe County Health Department reveals long term care facility with COVID-19 outbreak

UPDATE – Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at 10:30 am MONROE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – The Monroe County Health Department has confirmed to WOAY which long term care facility is seeing an outbreak of COVID-19.

The Health Department says that the Springfield Center in Lindside is reporting one resident, and two staff members have tested positive.

Stonerise Healthcare CEO, Larry Pack, released the following statement about their facility in Monroe County:

“We received confirmation that two employees and one patient at Springfield have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. All of the individuals are in isolation and precautions are in place to safeguard fellow patients and employees including the use of personal protective equipment and following all infection control policies. In accordance with guidance from the State of West Virginia, we have tested all other patients and employees for the COVID-19 virus. Center-wide testing was complete yesterday, August 18. We anticipate receiving results in the next several days and remain in regular communication with our families as results are available.

We are working closely with local and state health officials to stop the spread of the virus within our center. We remain focused on protecting all other patients and employees and we will continue to work to maintain a safe and loving environment for those we serve.”

Gov. Justice has suspended all visitations at all nursing homes.


MONROE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – The Monroe County Health Department confirms an outbreak of COVID 19 at a local Long Term Care Facility; one resident and two staff members have tested positive.

The Health Department is working closely with the facility to identify additional cases and conduct contact tracing.

Health and safety measures have already been implemented by the facility.
