UPDATE: Missing person found safe

UPDATE: On Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at approximately 9:30 pm Cpl. A.B. Wilson received a telephone call regarding a missing person.

Benjamin Browning, the victim, and was last seen in the Marsh Fork area of Raleigh County delivering mine parts to the Black Eagle Panther mine at approximately 1:00 pm on Monday, June 22, 2020.

The victim’s wife advised a text message had been received at approximately 3:45 am from the victim indicating his vehicle had broken down in the Blue Creek area of Kanawha County.

A search of the area was conducted. On Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at approximately 11:30 pm aviation was requested and assisted in the search.

At approximately 1:00 pm on June 24, 2020 aviation observed a male walking on Hunter Ridge in Clendenin, WV.

The male was identified as the victim and transported to Yeager Airport to obtain medical attention.

No other details have been released at this time.


OCEANA, WV (WOAY) – A person has been reported missing.

The Oceana Fire Department issued the following post on their Facebook:

“MISSING- Benjamin Browning

POSSIBLY DRIVING A WHITE FORD F-150 Extended Cab- It is a Marmic Company Truck

Around 11:00pm last night Mr. Browning called his daughter asking to send help and that he was very sick and getting sleepy. He needed medical attention. He did not know exactly where he was.

He is a diabetic and has now went 2 nights without medicine or food.

Last known location was pinged close to the Charleston, WV area. He told the family he was around Blue Creek Mountain and could hear fans like they were coming from a coal mining site.

The family has searched Robinson Point near Clendenin, WV and was not able to find him.”
