UPDATE: Man wanted for allegedly killing two men in Mercer County has been captured

UPDATE (March 13, 2020, at 11:00 PM) – MERCER COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department posted Friday night that Kenneth Adkins was taken into custody. They had located Adkins in Ohio, and were able to take him into custody with CUFFED Task Force members that also included the Princeton Police Department, WV Division of Parole and Deputy US Marshals, in addition to the Sheriff’s Department.

UPDATE (March 13, 2020, at 2:00 pm) – MERCER COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – An arrest warrant has been issued for Kenneth Adkins, 19, after he allegedly shot and murdered two men.

Detective Sgt. Sommers with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department tells WOAY that Adkins is facing two counts of first-degree murder.

Anyone with any information on Adkins’ whereabouts is urged to contact 911 or Crimestoppers.

UPDATE (March 12, 2020, at 3:45 pm) – MERCER COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Officials have released a picture of a possible suspect in connection to the double homicide this morning.

Police are searching for Kenneth Adkins, 19.

Prosecutors believe the incident is drug/gang-related.

MERCER COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Two people are dead after a shooting this morning in Mercer County.

According to Mercer County Sheriff’s Department and dispatch, a shooting call came in at around 6:33 am on Reese Harmon Ridge Road outside of the Rock and Lashmeet areas.

Chief Deputy Joe Parks tells WOAY that two people were found dead when emergency crews arrived on the scene.

Mercer County Sheriff’s Department and Princeton Rescue responded to the scene.
