BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Two buildings are set to be demolished as a result of the Walton building collapse two weeks ago in downtown Beckley.
Mayor Rob Rappold tells WOAY the Walton and Steven New buildings will need to be demolished because the damage sustained from the collapse is too severe to repair. The Wells Fargo Advisors building that is adjusted to the Walton building was affected during the collapse, but will only need repairs.
“The indications are that the buildings that suffer the collapses, the Walton and the Steven New building will need to be demolished,” said Mayor Rob Rappold.
The roads are expected to remain close until construction is completed
