United States Postal Service proposes rate increase for 2024

Post offices across West Virginia will close in observance

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY)- The United States Postal Service wants to raise prices again.

The proposed new rates include a two-cent increase for the first-class mail forever stamp from 66 to 68 cents.

There will be no change to the additional ounce price of 24 cents.

Prices for special services products would also experience a rate hike, including certified mail, post office box rental fees, money order fees, and the cost to purchase insurance when mailing an item.

The USPS states their prices are among the most affordable in the world.

The Postal Regulatory Commission still has to review the price changes first, and if they approve, the new prices will take effect on January 21.
