United Mine Workers president speaks to RFK Jr about NIOSH

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – United Mine Workers president and West Virginian Cecil Roberts says he has spoken to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about saving a federal agency that provides health services for coal miners.

Roberts told a group of people rallying in support of the National Institute for Occupational Safety that he spoke with Kennedy in support of the embattled federal agency.

The Department of Health and Human Services had initially planned sweeping cuts to NIOSH.

Some of those cuts were reversed after a federal judge ordered that no services be interrupted.
