U.S. Senator Joe Manchin discuss the Great American Outdoors Act

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin held a video press conference call to discuss the Great American Outdoors Act.

The Land and Water Conservation Fund has provided funding to help protect some of West Virginia’s national parks and ensure recreational access for hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. West Virginia has received approximately $246.2 million in LWCF funding over the past five decades.

“Conservation Fund is to provide public access for hunting and fishing, you talk about an economic driver. When you’re able to open and access the use of public land that been close. There are thousands and thousands of acres that citizens can’t get to,” said Manchin.

On Monday, the Senate voted 80-17 to take up the Great American Outdoors Act.
