West Virginia (CNN)—The United States Postal Service (USPS) has filed a notice regarding shipping service price changes that will take effect next year.
The adjustments would raise prices three-point-two percent for priority mail service and nearly four percent for USPS ground advantage.
The change would take effect on January 19.
The governors of the USPS believe the new rates will keep the postal service competitive.
And it will also provide the agency with revenue.
The announcement comes after the USPS reported its financial results in the 2024 fiscal year.
The government agency said its net loss this year was nine and a half billion dollars.
The postal service will not be raising prices in January for mailing services.
That means the prices of first-class stamps will stay the same for now.
In 2024, the USPS has raised postage rates for stamps twice.
