Two people arrested following Fayette County shooting incident

Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – Two people have been arrested following a shooting incident in Fayette County.

According to a media release from Fayette County Sheriff Jess McMullen, the incident occurred on the evening of July 9, 2025.

The Fayette County 911 Center dispatched the call reporting a victim with a gunshot wound. Deputies say the call initially came from a residence on Sewell Creek Road, but further investigation revealed the shooting happened on Patterson Mountain Road.

According to investigators, it appears that the victim in the incident was lured to Patterson Mountain Road by one of the suspects under false pretenses. Once the victim got to the scene, he was fired upon.

Deputies are looking at the victims’ injuries to determine if they were caused by a bullet, shrapnel, or shattered glass from his vehicle. The victim has been treated for his injuries.

As a result of the investigation, deputies have arrested two people on multiple felony charges.

21-year-old Justin J. Akers of Meadow Bridge is charged with Attempted Murder, Malicious Wounding, Wanton Endangerment, and Conspiracy. These are all felony offenses. Akers is also charged with a misdemeanor charge of being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm.

19-year-old Lucretia May Farnsworth of Meadow Bridge is charged with felony offenses of Attempted Murder, Malicious Wounding, Wanton Endangerment, and Conspiracy.

Sheriff Jess McMullen reminds the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
