Two men sentenced for federal drug crimes in Kanawha County

Charleston, WV (WOAY) Two Kanawha County men are heading to federal prison after admitting their roles in separate drug cases tied to a larger investigation into fentanyl and meth distribution in the Charleston area.

Federal prosecutors say 31-year-old Michael Allen Corkhill of Dunbar was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

Investigators say Corkhill admitted to redistributing meth supplied by a larger drug trafficking organization and was linked to more than six pounds of meth distributed in the Charleston area.

Court documents show he sold meth to a confidential informant on four separate occasions between October of 2024 and January of 2025.

39-year-old Steven Jamar Alexander of Nitro was sentenced to more than 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to distributing fentanyl.

Prosecutors say Alexander sold fentanyl to a confidential informant twice in St. Albans before investigators searched his home and found nearly 200 grams of fentanyl and close to $8,000 in cash.

Officials say both cases are connected to a broader federal investigation involving 16 people accused of distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine in the Charleston area.

The investigation was led by the FBI and the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team.
