Charleston, WV (WOAY) – Two inmates have been found dead in less than one week at the same West Virginia jail.
According to a media release from the West Virginia Dept. of Homeland Security, 33-year-old Darrell Crowder was found dead by staff performing routine checks on June 12, 2025, while in custody at South Central Regional Jail in Charleston.
43-year-old inmate Alana Saul was found unresponsive and died on June 17, 2025, also at South Central Regional Jail in Charleston.
The incidents are currently under investigation by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Criminal Investigation Division and the West Virginia State Police.
