Two indivduals face several charges following traffic stop in Beckley

Beckley, WV (WOAY) Two people are facing charges following a traffic stop in Raleigh County. 

According to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped a vehicle in the Beckley area on January 10.

During the stop, a K-9 unit was deployed, and the dog alerted to the presence of drugs inside the vehicle. 

Investigators recovered a firearm, nearly $3,000 in cash, and multiple drugs, including large amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl, along with crack cocaine. 

Authorities arrested the driver, Michael Cooper, on multiple charges, including possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, a traffic violation, and improper registration. 

Deputies also took the passenger, Bernard Garrison, into custody after learning that Louisiana authorities wanted him as a fugitive from justice.
