Nicholas County, WV (WOAY) Two separate crashes in Nicholas County claimed two lives over the past day.
According to the Wilderness Fire Department, the first crash happened just after 12:30 Monday morning when emergency crews responded to a UTV crash on Old Nicholas Road near Bruce Road in Mount Nebo.
One person died at the scene, while a second person with serious injuries was taken to Summersville Regional Medical Center.
Then, just after 1:20 Monday afternoon, crews responded to a two-vehicle crash on Wilderness Highway in Mount Nebo.
One person was killed in that crash.
No other injuries were reported.
State Route 41 was closed for more than two hours while emergency crews worked the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved, and both crashes remain under investigation.
