Trump administration approved a federal disaster declaration for Fayette, Harrison, and Kanawha counties after severe flooding in August

Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – The Trump administration has approved a federal disaster declaration for Fayette, Harrison, and Kanawha counties after severe flooding hit the area in August.

Flooding caused significant damage in western Fayette County, especially in the Robson and Beards Fork areas.

Individuals and households who suffered damage during those weather events can apply for assistance from FEMA.

You can apply online, but FEMA does plan to establish in-person disaster recovery centers.

In a statement, Governor Patrick Morrissey thanked the Trump administration, saying in part, quote, “Our local emergency managers, first responders and volunteers worked alongside the state and FEMA to document the damage and make the case for this assistance. We will keep working to get resources where they are needed and help these communities rebuild.”
