WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Low pressure pushing across the northern Plains will edge into the Ohio Valley and finally bring everyone rain late this week.
Before then, expect a couple of brief downpours and thunder rumbles west of Lewisburg between 8-11 a.m., then lots of sun. A cool outflow produced from the storms in Illinois will set the stage for new storm development in Ohio later today. Two or three of those storms will push towards Route 19 this evening and then dissipate.
Low pressure spinning in the northern Plains will bring a couple of rain showers and storms to everyone Friday afternoon and Saturday. In between the rain, the sun will pop out. Late week rain amounts of 0.50-0.75″ expected, which will not be enough to cure our summer drought, but could trim parts of the moderate drought along Route 19.
The threat of rain diminishes Sunday afternoon and high pressure returns warm and dry weather early next week. Then, a front settling south from the northern Plains to Northeast will trigger widespread storms along and north of the Pennsylvania turnpike by midweek. Given we will be on the southern flank, a storm is possible, but it will remain warm and humid.
Late next week favors a pattern reminiscent of July with a high pressure dome settling into the region and very warm to hot weather with very little rain. The moderate drought will likely redevelop in areas where it gets chipped away from upcoming showers.
