Beckley, WV (WOAY)—As temperatures continue to drop, the Beckley Community United Methodist Church, United Way of Southern West Virginia, and other local partners are coordinating a warming center for people who need shelter from the cold.
The center will open on Sunday, December 1, at 217 S. Heber Street, in Beckley Community United Methodist Church’s fellowship hall.
The hall will serve as a warming center overnight when temperatures are below 15 degrees, including wind chill.
The center will continue operations through March 31, but none of this is possible without community support.
Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to attend a training session on Thursday, November 21, at 7:00 p.m., at United Methodist’s fellowship hall.
Registration is not required to attend the training event.
