GHENT, WV (WOAY) – A tractor-trailer fire this morning slowed down traffic on I77 at mile marker 37.5.
It happened at around 7 a.m. Ghent Volunteer Fire Department said that the truck’s trailer was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived. The driver was able to disconnect the tractor and move it to safety.
The truck was carrying chocolate candy, and there was no hazardous cargo on board.
Heavy equipment was brought in to fully dismantle the cargo to make sure the fire was put out.
Ghent sent a ladder and tanker truck. Beaver Volunteer Fire Department sent an engine and tanker truck as well.
JanCare Ambulance, the West Virginia State Police, and Turnpike personnel were also on the scene.
