Tazewell, VA (WOAY) The Town of Tazewell is inviting the community to celebrate Juneteenth with a weekend of events honoring freedom, history, and unity.
The celebration begins Friday, June 19, with a 7:00 p.m. screening of the documentary “A Silent Fire” at the Tazewell Train Depot Museum.
Refreshments will be served following the film.
Events continue Saturday, June 20, at 11:00 a.m. on the Main Street Stage in Tazewell. The program will feature inspirational music, cultural activities, and remarks from Bluefield State University President Dr. Darrin Martin.
A parade will follow, traveling from Main Street to Carline Avenue for food and fellowship.
The weekend wraps up Sunday, June 21, with a worship service at Nuckolls Hall on Fairgrounds Road. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., and the service begins at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Todd French.
Organizers say the Juneteenth celebration is an opportunity to remember the past, celebrate the present, and build the future together.
