WOAY – Todd Duncan posted a second straight round in the 60s Wednesday as he defended his West Virginia Junior Amateur championship at the Resort at Glade Springs.
Duncan, who started the final round with a two-shot lead, posted a three-under 69 as he went on to win by nine strokes. He birdied four holes on the front nine, and recovered from a double-bogey 6 on 11 with birdies on both the 12th and 14th holes.
In the last two weeks alone, Duncan – who will be a senior at Shady Spring this fall – has won both the Junior Match Play and Junior Amateur titles, and was the low area golfer at the West Virginia Open. Last year, he won the Junior Amateur, co-low junior honors at the WV Amateur, and the high school Class AA individual state championship.
Savannah Hawkins of Hurricane won the Girls Junior Amateur title with a two-round score of +3. Oceana’s Kerri-Anne Cook earned runner-up honors, while defending champion Mary Denny of Mount Hope finished fourth.
