OAK HILL, WV (WOAY)- February is National Library Lovers Month, a month dedicated to celebrating libraries.
This is a great month to show your appreciation for our local libraries, librarians you’ve met, other bookworms, the books you read, and just the love of reading in general. This month ultimately raises awareness of libraries’ inclusive power to bring people together.
Here are some fun facts you may not know: the largest library in the world is the Library of Congress, and in Vermont, the Haskell Free Library and Opera House are on the border of the U.S. and Canada!
The branch manager at the Oak Hill Library says supporting your local libraries is essential.
“Most of the librarians for Fayette County would say is just to make sure you come to the library and use us. We’re here for you. It’s your tax dollars. We want to do things that you want to see available,” said Jamie Pritt, Branch Manager at the Oak Hill Public Library. “If you have a suggestion for any programs or things you’d like to see, everybody’s open to that. Just support your libraries and come out and see us. We really like to be involved in the community, and we’d like to do more. So it’s really important that we have that support.”
