Three people have been arrested in a multi-state bank fraud scheme

Lewisburg, WV (WOAY) – Three people have been arrested in a multi-state bank fraud scheme that impacted two branches of Peoples Bank in Lewisburg.

According to Greenbrier County Prosecuting Attorney Nicole Graybeal, Corporal Jeff Vance of the Lewisburg Police Department and Chief Todd Cole of the Spencer Police Department initiated a joint investigation and discovered that suspects had allegedly used stolen identities to steal large sums of money.

The three people arrested are Marianne Murphy and Fanny Singer of New Jersey and Michael Earlington of New York.

The investigation spanned Indiana, Georgia, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, and, of course, West Virginia.

Graybeal thanked the work of all the investigators who helped with the case.
