Three people arrested following Barboursville police chase

Barboursville, WV (WOAY) – Three people are in custody following an early morning police chase in Cabell County, WV.

According to a media release from the Barboursville Police Department, Law enforcement attempted to pull a vehicle over at the Tanyard Sheetz Station early Tuesday morning. Officers say the driver of the vehicle later identified as Tyreese D. Cook, 24, of Detroit, allegedly refused to identify himself or exit the vehicle and began ramming a Barboursville police cruiser before leaving the scene.

The suspects’ vehicle was later located and stopped at an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Main Street in Barboursville. Cook and two unidentified suspects exited the vehicle and began running. Officers quickly detained the unidentified male and female suspect without incident.

Police said Cook was later found hiding in a wooded area near Hash Ridge Road and allegedly ran again. He was found and taken into custody hiding underneath the porch of a residence after officers used a thermal imaging device and a K-9 to locate him.

Tyreese D. Cook, also known as “Ace,” is charged with fleeing, felony destruction of property and hit and run. According to court records Cook also has an active warrant out of out of Michigan for aggravated assault.

All three individuals were arrested and transported to the Western Regional Jail, where they are being held pending arraignment. This incident remains under investigation.
