Mercer County, WV (WOAY) – Three men were sentenced to prison in Mercer County for unrelated crimes.
According to a press release from Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney Brian K. Cochran, the three men were sentenced to prison on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, for their involvement in unrelated crimes across Mercer County.
32-year-old Joseph Earl Coalson, of Raleigh County WV was sentenced to 1 to 5 years in prison for fleeing from a law enforcement officer in a vehicle with reckless disregard for the safety of others. Additionally, Coalson was sentenced to 6 months for a second offense of shoplifting. The incident occurred in November 2024. Judge Mark Wills presided over the sentencing
57-year-old Teddy Billings Jr., of Oklahoma was sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to incest in front of Judge Mark Wills. The incident occurred in June 2022.
55-year-old Charles Nicholson, of Princeton
Lastly, Charles Nicholson, 55, of Princeton, was convicted in a jury trial for driving with a revoked license while under the influence (DUI), third offense. Nicholson was convicted by a Circuit Court jury in November 2024. He was sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison today by Judge William Sadler.
