The West Virginia Legislature passed this year’s budget

Kanawha County, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia Legislature passed this year’s budget yesterday evening, setting the stage to deliver the bill to Governor Patrick Morrisey today.

The Governor would then have five days to sign the bill and make any line-item vetoes.

The budget was passed early enough to give lawmakers time to override those vetoes if they so choose.

The budget includes a 3% raise for employees and plans for a 5% income tax reduction.

Lawmakers did not reach an agreement on the 10% tax cut that the governor requested.
