The last week of October looks nice

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – This week has started off much the same way that last week started off, with plenty of sunshine. Temperatures wound up in the mid-to-upper-60s, also continuing the recent trend. While today will wind up being a shade warmer than it has been recently, it will also be the 8th consecutive day that the high in Beckley will be in the 60s. Other areas wound up in the 60s as well, even in the high elevations. Tonight, lows will drop off quickly again after sunset, and we’ll wind up around 40 degrees for the low. That’s close to the normal and is definitely jacket weather for people headed out late tonight and tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow will be another nice day, with plenty of sunshine and rising temperatures. Highs will wind up in the mid-to-upper-60s again.
The high-pressure dome that has put the lid on any showers that might develop will remain in place for another few days. The high will gradually scoot off to the southeast of the area, allowing temperatures to rise into the 70s for the highs as the flow turns to the south. The dry and warmer trend will last through this week and into this weekend, including on Halloween itself.
By the time we get to Halloween, we will have gone two weeks without any rain at the Raleigh County Memorial Airport. But that streak should end as we finally see a chance for rain return to the forecast on Sunday, the first day of November, as a fairly strong low pushes into the region.
With the low dragging a front through, temperatures will fall back a bit, although we’re expecting them to stay at or just above normal.
