It was a rainy morning, but turned into a nice day across most of Southern West Virginia. Rain will move back through early Sunday morning from round 2 in Kentucky. Significant flash flooding has occurred in Kentucky earlier today, which for the most part, missed our region.
We will have a pretty dry week though, going forward; with an exception being Friday and Saturday. There is a small chance of rain both of those days, but no washout is expected. The rain on Saturday appears to be an early rain, before becoming drier during the day and most people’s 4th of July festivities should be dry!
Here is a look at the European models 7 day rainfall. Not much across our area as we are entering this dry period next week, brought by a high pressure system.
The key for next week will be the heat. Under mostly sunny skies across the region, temperatures will soar to well above average. For Beckley specifically, temperatures in the upper 80’s to low 90’s from Tuesday through our forecast period can be expected.
Here’s a look at the full 7 day forecast that shows the heat wave coming in. Sunday will be nice with a chance of showers and storms throughout the day. Tuesday through at least Saturday could see dangerous heat setting up, so make sure you protect yourself from the heat and make sure you are familiar with the signs of heat exhaustion.
