BECKLEY, WV (WOAY)- Around 10:30 pm on December 29th, Beckley police officers responded to a shooting that happened inside of a vehicle that was parked in the parking lot of the Beckley crossing shopping center.
Upon arrival they had found a female suffering a single gunshot wound. EMS responded and she was transported to a local hospital where she was declared deceased.
The responding officers took Deshawn Lawson, 28 of Beckley, into custody at the scene. Initial investigation suggests that this shooting was from a domestic dispute.
Lawson was charged with the following: First Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, and Wanton Endangerment.
The victim’s identity is currently being withheld to notify the family.
