Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – Tesla is recalling over 120,000 vehicles because the doors may unlock during a crash, causing them to unlatch and open, increasing the risk of injury.Â
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports the defect impacts some 2021 through 2023 Model S and X vehicles.Â
Tesla says it first became aware of the issue during a routine crash test earlier this month.Â
However, the automaker says it is unaware of any injuries resulting from the defect.Â
Owners will be notified by mail by mid-February.Â
Tesla also released an over-the-air software update for the affected cars.Â
This recall comes a week after Tesla recalled nearly two million cars due to issues with the autopilot feature.Â
