We are heading into a heat wave compared to what we have been experiencing. Before this heat wave comes though, we have to get through Monday and Tuesday. A high pressure system will be located to the east and we will have some cold air getting trapped into the east side of the Appalachians. The Greenbrier Valley looks to be the area where we will see the most of the freezing rain/snow impacts, although some light snow is possible as far west as Raleigh County. Impacts west of the Appalachian spine will be limited as of now though, for Monday and Tuesday.

The National Weather Service has our area under 6-10 day precipitation outlook as above average precipitation. Here is a look at the European model for Wednesday at 6 AM. Rain looks likely Wednesday-Friday as a system comes through the area with multiple rounds of rain.

Temperatures next week look well above average for many. Starting Tuesday, temperatures near 50 with the potential for rain. After that, temperatures near 70 seem possible on Friday, but the chance for rain continues and might be even more likely Friday than Thursday. Even though we have a chance of rain across most of this next week, flash flooding will not be expected due to this not being a washout in our area. The rain will be more hit or miss. Further to the west, across Missouri and Arkansas, flash flooding does appear possible.
We will continue to track developments with this storm!
