It was a nice afternoon around the region with temperatures a few degrees warmer than they were on Tuesday for most areas, although still below the normal for today.

After a cold night tonight, the warming trend continues through the next several days and by the weekend highs will be in the 70s again! In fact, near normal to above normal temperatures are in the forecast from tomorrow on.
The bigger story in this forecast period involves the chances for rain. We’ll see a number of storm systems pass through or at least near the region, meaning that the chances for rain are not only high, but that there are many opportunities to pick up rain and, in some areas, snow as well.

Chances for thunder are in the forecast as well, especially during the weekend and on Monday. As for severe weather, there is a small chance for that between Sunday and Monday. The Storm Prediction Center still has a sliver of the western portion of the state (west of our area) in a 15% probability for severe weather in the Sunday morning – Monday morning timeframe. Between Monday morning and Tuesday morning, the far southeastern portion of our area (near the Virginia line) is included in another 15% chance for severe weather. We’ll be monitoring it closely throughout the rest of the week.
