Tazewell, VA (WOAY) – One of our local teams will have a new home by football season.
Tazewell County Public Schools has turned down an offer from the City of Bluefield West Virginia to continue their tenure at Mitchell Stadium for Graham High School.
In the past, Bluefield offered Tazewell County Public Schools a two-year contract to play at the stadium.
According to Dr. Chris Stacy, the division superintendent of Tazewell County Public Schools, Bluefield offered a five-year and a three-year contract.
The three-year contract was for $108,000 a year, which the school board turned down.
Now, the G-men will play a combination of home games on the new practice field beside the high school on Saturdays and a few games at Tazewell High School.
Stacy says the plan is to install new bleachers and eventually lighting at the new field.
