Richlands, VA (WOAY) -The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a weapon on campus at a Southwest Viginia High School today.
According to a Facebook post, a student was found in possession of a firearm today at Richlands High School. Due to the quick response of School officials and the School Resource Officer at the high school the situation was quickly contained, and the student has been detained. No students or staff were injured in the incident.
Tazewell County Public School officials say, “the safety of our students & staff are our utmost concern.”
The investigation remains ongoing at this time. WOAY news will provide updates as more information becomes available.
