Tazewell County man gets life sentence for crimes against children

Tazewell, VA (WOAY) – A Tazewell County man received a life sentence for crimes against children.

According to a press release from the Tazewell Commonwealth Attorney’s Office on January 15, 2025, 47-year-old Jackie Lee McGlothlin, of Raven, Virginia was sentenced to five life terms, as well as 20 additional years in prison without parole in a hearing on November 7, 2024.

McGlothlin’s charges were:

(1) count of aggravated sexual battery of a child under the age of thirteen 

(1) count of rape of a child under thirteen years of age 

(3) counts of forcible sodomy of a child under thirteen 

(1) count of object sexual penetration of a child under thirteen.

   “I am grateful for the outcome and am proud of the courage and the bravery the victim in this case showed.  I am also thankful to all of the agencies that helped bring this case to a close” said Kati Asbury, Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney.
