Beckley, WV (WOAY) A new study is putting a West Virginia destination in the national spotlight.
Data from the SIXT+ car subscription service has named Tamarack Marketplace in Beckley the Best Family Rest Stop in America, ranking ahead of well-known travel stops like Buc-ee’s and the Iowa 80 Truckstop.
Researchers analyzed 30 of the most talked-about rest stops across the country, looking at popularity, convenience, accessibility, family-friendly amenities, and nearby dining options.
Tamarack earned the highest overall score in the study, earning a 94.6 out of 100, with perfect scores for convenience and nearby dining.
Located at the intersection of Interstates 64 and 77, Tamarack was also recognized for its family facilities and strong popularity among travelers.
Officials say the destination stands out because it offers more than a traditional highway stop.
Tamarack showcases West Virginia artisans, handcrafted goods, and locally made food, giving visitors a taste of the Mountain State during their travels.
The recognition comes as road trips continue to grow in popularity ahead of the summer travel season, with more Americans choosing to drive to vacation destinations in 2026.
