Summersville, WV (WOAY) – The Summersville Police Department will be on the lookout for impaired drivers.
According to a media release, a sobriety checkpoint is scheduled for May 24, 2025, between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. on Broad Street in Summersville, WV. An alternate location will be Webster Road, also in Summersville, WV.
Summersville PD will be looking for impaired drivers, underage drinking and motorists driving on suspended or revoked driver’s licenses. The DUI Checkpoint will also be supported by roving DUI patrols throughout the evening and nighttime hours.
Officers with Summersville Police Department say the purpose of the DUI checkpoint is to educate the public on the dangers of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Officers encourage motorists to buckle up and designate a sober driver if consuming alcohol.
The Sobriety Checkpoint is funded by the Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention.
