Summers County, WV (WOAY) – Summers County Deputies are investigating a DUI accident.
On Tuesday February 18, 2025, Summers County Sheriff’s Deputies Deputy J.A. Farmer and Sgt. J.S Ward responded to a hit and run accident on Greenbrier Drive. Once deputies arrived, they were able to determine that the vehicle which fled the scene was a Green Jeep. Over the course of the investigation, they were able share a picture of the suspect vehicle to the departments Facebook page.
A short time later with help from the public they were able to locate the vehicle in the Hilldale area of Summers County. Through further investigation deputies were also able to identify the driver during the accident as Steven Leach. According to deputies Mr. Leach was under the influence of alcohol, and he had a juvenile in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Steven Leach was arrested and charged for DUI with a minor.
This investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges could be brought.
