Summers County Library cancels litter cleanup due to corona virus concerns

HINTON, WV (WOAY) – The Summers County Public Library originally planned to organize a community litter cleanup this Saturday, but it was cancelled at the last minute due to concerns about the coronavirus.

The library itself remains open, but the library’s director claims they will continue to monitor the situation to see if that will change. Federal guidelines for managing the coronavirus in communities includes limiting the gathering of large groups. Unfortunately, this has led to many event cancellations throughout the country.

Other businesses and organizations in Hinton and other towns in West Virginia have already started closing their doors for certain events. Although there are still no confirmed cases of the virus in West Virginia, limiting the gathering of large groups is still recommended to avoid infection.

Safety of their patrons remains the Summers County Library’s main priority. The litter cleanup is planned to be rescheduled sometime in the near future.
