Summers County drive by shooting, man taken into custody

Summers County, WV (WOAY) – The Summers County sheriff’s office has informed Newswatch of a drive-by shooting.

On Tuesday, June 16, there was a drive-by shooting in the Bargers Springs area of Summers County. On June 17, Deputy J. L. Farmer received a 911 call and started the investigation.

The investigation revealed that the shooting was allegedly related to a drug deal.

Thursday afternoon, during a traffic stop in the Forest Hill area of Summers County, Sheriff Faris and deputies took the suspect, Codie Santanio, of the drive-by into custody with no incident.

During this, deputies found a firearm and what appeared to be meth.

Santanio has been charged with two counts of wanton endangerment, possession of methamphetamine, destruction of property, and firing a weapon within 500 feet of a dwelling.
