BECKLEY, WV (WOAY)- This morning around 10 am the Bradley-Prosperity Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the Beckley Healthcare Center Nursing Home after an alarm activated.
The fire was in the A-wing duct work of the facility, which upgraded the fire from a fire alarm to a structure fire with Mabscott and Mount Hope Fire Departments also being dispatched as automatic aid.
When they arrived, fire and smoke were not visible either inside or outside. Residents were being evacuated by staff, and the departments divided into 3 teams to locate the fire. Around 10:30 am they located the fire inside an 8-inch vent shaft and had the fire under control by 11 am.
There were no injuries to residents, faculty, staff or first responders during it.
