It is a partly cloudy and warm afternoon around the region, with temperatures close to and even a shade above where they should be for early June.
Later tonight, a front will swing through and give us chances for showers and storms. Some of the storms later tonight and tomorrow could be on the strong to severe side.
The main threats if there are severe storms will be for damaging winds, but the other threats can’t be ruled out, even flash flooding in areas that see showers and storms pass over. There is plenty of moisture for the storms to work with and even though they will be quick movers, they could produce heavy rain. The usual issues with heavy rain will be the ones to track – meaning ponding of water of the roads and gathering water in the low-lying spots.
By tomorrow morning, the severe weather will be gone, but there will still be a few lingering showers through the afternoon before it clears out later on.
Overall totals are not that impressive on the atmospheric models that we look at, but like we saw last Thursday night, any areas where storms set up could see issues with flooding.
After the front pushes through, we’ll see dry weather for a few days with warm temperatures. Highs will be in the middle 80s. and lows in the lower to middle 60s. Later in the forecast, the weather becomes active again and the weekend will feature more chances for showers and storms.
