Still Watching Tropical Activity, but Trending Less Likely

We had some rain showers and thunderstorms scattered across the area today. Mainly toward the south and east of Beckley. There were also some flood advisories and stronger thunderstorms near the Virginia state line. The weather will clear out tonight into tomorrow and lead to a pretty nice Sunday before the rain chances potentially creep back in associated with Tropical Depression Nine.

Hurricane Humberto strengthened into a Category 5 today. Tropical Depression Nine (soon to be Imelda), will linger off the South Carolina coast on Monday before being pulled out to sea, this takes most of our rain potential with it. South and North Carolina will get the majority of the heavy rain; our rain potential depends on how far north this system gets. If it does end up making a landfall into South Carolina, we have a better chance of picking up measurable rain but will still mainly be in our southern and eastern counties.

After the Tuesday/Wednesday time frame, our rain chances diminish, leading to a mostly dry end of the week!
