Kanawha County, WV (WOAY) – Governor Patrick Morrisey announced another $2 million was being sent to food banks across the state, bringing the total amount of state funds for food banks to $13 million.
This government shutdown is the longest in American history, totaling 41 days. Governor Morrisey said that from the start, he wouldn’t let West Virginians go hungry. He said no matter what happens in D.C., state government must step up.
Morrisey has also
previously activated the National Guard to aid food banks by helping distribute food.
The governor urged residents to call 211 to get connected with help to manage any food deliveries they may need.
