LEWISBURG, WV (WOAY) – The State Fair of West Virginia and First Energy’s 8th annual canned food drive was held today at the State Fairgrounds.
First Energy sent volunteers to the Fairgrounds to help with the collection. There were familiar challenges faced while executing an event during COVID-19.
“The challenges are just like everybody else,” said First Energy Design Technician Chris Cornelius. “[We’re] trying to maintain social distances, dropping off the food. Not going out and actually greeting people and grabbing their food for them and collecting it. Maintaining that social distance. We all have our masks like we’re supposed to.
All of the food items collected will be donated to local banks.
