Southern West Virginia fills Salvation Army Angel Tree for children in need

RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – More than 400 Raleigh, Fayette, Nicholas, and Greenbrier county kids will have the Christmas they deserve, thanks to the Salvation Army of Beckley’s Angel Tree.

The community has adopted almost all the kids, leaving only five on the Crossroads Mall tree.

“It really shows that we are here to love our neighbor and no greater love than obviously going above and beyond to make sure these kids have Christmas,” said Captain Liz Blusiewicz, adding that every kid deserves that.

According to the captain, just because kids may be going through a challenging time doesn’t mean they have different wishes than their classmates who aren’t.

“For me, this means community, this means love,” Blusiewicz said. “And I love being a gift-giver. Seeing the smiles and knowing that on Christmas morning, when I put my feet up, I’ll finally know there’s going to be hundreds of kids that are going to have an amazing Christmas because of southern West Virginia.”
