Some sit-down restaurants continue to struggle ten days after reopening

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – Most restaurants had a big boom in business when opening just in time for Memorial Day weekend, but some still continue to struggle now that the holiday is over.

Restaurants are still required to limit the number of people inside and are encouraged to use paper products. Firecreek BBQ & Steaks in Fayetteville for instance has been hit hard by the pandemic, but the owner Bryan Evans says he’s grateful for the community support.

“Surprisingly it’s been really good. It’s hard with half capacity, which I mean we really want to promote safety, so we knocked it down to 40% in our restaurant. And then you have a lot of added cost for all the paper products you have to use,” Evans said.

Firecreek BBQ & Steaks does a 40% maximum capacity and encourages patrons to wear masks for extra safety precautions.
