RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – March into the slopes this weekend at Winterplace.
On March 1, Snowmelt Fest’s Cardboard Sled Race will delight skiers and boarders of all ages, and then the community’s favorite Pond Swim will be held on March 2.
Want even more slope time? The resort is preselling tickets through March 9.
Snow enthusiasts get Winterplace’s 100 percent snowmaking and more than 90 skiable acres.
Registration is from 11 am to 1 pm for both events.
“Everyone makes cardboard sleds. Last year we had over 40, so I’m excited to see what we get this season. It’s great to watch — some sleds make it, some don’t. It’s super entertaining, to say the least,” said General Manager Josh Faber. “Pond Swim is kind of a last skier, last boarder standing. You get across the pond from the lowest distance on the mountain. We try to make it a little bit of a challenge, and it’s going to be a great time.”
